Madelyn Curtis fell in love with music at a very early age. She learned and
performed on flute, guitar, recorder, fife, piccolo, traverso/Baroque flute, Native
American Flute, as well as voice. She has performed throughout Massachusetts
and New Jersey including performing on fife during the Bicentennial Celebration
attended by Queen Elizabeth and President Ford.

Ms Madelyn earned her Bachelor of Music at University of Massachusetts at
Lowell and her Master of Music at New England Conservatory. She began her
teaching career, teaching at several colleges, including New England
Conservatory of Music and Westminster Conservatory of Music. After a move to
New Jersey, Ms Madelyn continued performing and became the church flutist for
St. Catharine’s Church in 1993. She has played at several other churches,
including St. Mark’s, and Trinity Episcopal locally.

Ms Madelyn teaches students ranging in age from 4 years old to 84, whether in
local schools, in various colleges, or privately. In all of these settings, Ms.
Madelyn focuses on the student and their needs.
In addition to her passion for music, Ms Madelyn has become an advocate for
students with disabilities. She possesses the unique ability to motivate each
student to do his or her best by tailoring the instruction to address the diverse
needs, abilities, and learning styles of each student. She utilizes a variety of
teaching strategies to promote understanding and mastery of skills and concepts.
Students who work with Ms Madelyn learn much more than the material. They
are instilled with a love of learning and a strong sense of self-esteem and
confidence.
